We will continue our journey through the season of Lent as we think of the thousands of years of events that led to the Cross and the Empty Tomb. In John 18:37, Jesus says, “the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth.” We celebrate Christmas because of the events of Good Friday and Easter. Jesus birth is significant because of who He is and what He came to accomplish. Jesus understood that He was literally born to die for our sins. But the story that culminates in the Cross and the empty Tomb began thousands of years before the first Christmas. It began with the creation of humanity in the image of God, and humanity’s constant tendency to go our way instead of God’s way. Jesus came to break the curse of sin and death.
